My Maternity Shoot

My Maternity Shoot

As with everything else in my life I was late doing my maternity shoot. Because it had been over 11 years since I had a baby this was my first maternity shoot. I was excited to do one and I knew exactly what theme I wanted to do. I've always loved the African look.

I was so excited about how everything just came together at the last minute. My make-up was done by my best-friend Tranese who also has a make up YouTube page. You should definitely check out her page "MissCutie2224".

She also designed my outfit.  She went on YouTube and looked at a few tutorials the night before on how to arrange the fabric.  With the help of a few pins we were in business. I bought this particular pattern from Wal-Mart.  I was stuck between two patterns and I ended up letting my eldest son make the final decision.  I was very pleased with how it looked on my skin and how it popped with the scenery.

My pictures were taken by a member of my church  who scouted the beautiful locations in St. Pete Florida.  We went to at least 3 locations.  I loved the shots in front of the water because the sun glistened off of the water and the blue in contrast with my skin color and the colors in my outfit.  This was the first location.  I am still so in love with my pictures.

The second location were the pictures taken at a park in front of a very large tree.  I thought it was such a unique touch knowing that I was having a boy and boys love climbing trees.  In fact there was a little boy there climbing the tree while we were trying to shoot.  We had to shoot around him as well as other people.  The photographer had a lot of cute ideas that came out really well.

The last locations were just random places that we thought had a lot of pretty green colors or colors that made my outfit pop.  I felt like a true queen this day.  I will always remember it and I'm so happy that I was able to capture this moment.

Special thanks again to my best friend Tranese Brookins and photographer Monique Whitaker for making this day very special for me.

My Journey to VBAC-My First C-section

My Journey To VBAC- My 1st C-Section

13 years ago at the tender age of 19 after 27 hours of labor my first son was born...by C-section.  At 19, I didn't know a lot about giving birth, I didn't know a lot about pregnancy, well, lets be honest I didn't know a lot about life.

But I found myself pregnant at 18 and giving birth at 19.  I was fresh out of high school and the most important thing to me (at that time) was becoming a mother.  I had just watched my best-friend brisk through 41 weeks of pregnancy.  She glowed the entire time, moved around easily, and laughed often.  Her labor was (in my eyes) a piece of cake.  She moaned and cried a little but by the time the baby was there she was back to smiling and laughing.

I couldn't wait to become a mother.  And a few months later I was indeed pregnant.  Well, my pregnancy was a lot different.  I was sick from the very beginning.  I couldn't hold anything down.  I lost over 30 pounds and 3 months into it I spent a week in the hospital and had my gallbladder removed.

Life got a lot better after that up until the delivery time.  I worked at a hotel up until my water broke. I went into the hospital at 1 cm dilated.  After a few hours of contractions I got an epidural to ease the pain.  And after 27 hours I had only dilated to 5 cm.  Around that time my doctor informed that the baby was either under distress or his heart rate dropped, (it was 13 years ago....I don't remember) but either way I was rushed to the chopping block better known as the C-section room and 30 minutes later my first born son was born.

Like I said before I didn't really know a lot about child birth or anything. I trusted my doctor's and believed in everything they told me.

This time I know better....or maybe I don't.

Our Journey To VBAC-1st video

Our Journey To VBAC

Me and my sons father decided to start blogging (very late) about our pregnancy experience.  We have a very "different" experience that I/we will eventually explain.  But we both agreed that we're okay with sharing our good and bad ups and downs with the world.

We did this first video the other day. It's on my PhatMag09 YouTube as well as a few other videos.  He has his own YouTube page called "Raising Rizm" and you can check it out as well.

This is just an introduction video.  Check it out and as always feel free to comment, like and share!!!

Introduction

Hello Everyone!

I'm starting this blog a little late.  I am 40 weeks pregnant and 4 days! LOL!!  I could go into labor at anytime now but the chances of that happening in my opinion are not good.

I'm starting this blog for several reasons.  The first being that I have so much on my mind these days when it comes to giving birth to my third child.  I have two kids already.  Two boys to be exact.  They are 13 and 11.  Yea, yea I know what you're thinking: You sure did wait a long time to have another one.  Well, that's a whole different story that eventually we will get into.

I've made a few videos on YouTube that I'll post detailing my other two son's births which resulted in C-sections.  Fast-forward 11 years later and I'm pregnant again, but this time I am older and wiser (I guess) and armed with knowledge of vbac's.

Although my midwives and physicians say that my chances of having a vbac are very slim I am hoping for the best!

Stay Tuned...
